Why Book Private Airport Transfer?

Huacachina is a tiny oasis with limited transport options. Here's why private transfer is the easiest way to reach Lima Airport.

No Ica Bus Terminal Detour

Public transport from Huacachina means a taxi to Ica bus terminal, a 4-hour bus to Lima, then another taxi to the airport. Private transfer eliminates all three steps – we pick you up at your hostel or hotel in Huacachina itself.

Sand-Proof Luggage Transport

After sandboarding and dune buggy rides, everything you own has sand in it. Our vehicles have clean, enclosed trunks. Your bags travel safely while you brush off the last of the desert before your flight.

Flexible After Adventure

Sunset sandboarding ran late? Morning dune buggy tour pushed back? No fixed bus schedule to stress about. We adjust pickup time to match your actual plans, not the other way around.

Comfortable Recovery Ride

Huacachina is pure adrenaline – sandboarding, dune buggies, hot sun. The 4-5 hour drive to the airport is your decompression time. Recline, hydrate, and arrive at the terminal feeling human again.

Travel Tips & Information

Helpful advice for your transfer

Shake Off the Sand First

Huacachina sand gets into everything. Before loading bags into the vehicle, give them a good shake. Most hotels have an outdoor area or compressed air to help. Your driver will appreciate clean luggage in the trunk.

Departure Timing

For international flights, leave Huacachina 7-8 hours before departure. For domestic flights, 6-7 hours works. The drive itself is 4-5 hours, but Lima traffic and airport check-in time need to be factored in.

Hydrate Before the Drive

Huacachina's desert heat dehydrates you more than you realize. Drink plenty of water before and during the drive. All vehicles have air conditioning, but starting hydrated makes the journey much more comfortable.

Quick Pisco Stop in Ica

We pass through Ica on the way out. If you want to grab a bottle of pisco or wine from a local bodega, a 10-minute stop is easy to arrange. Cachina and pisco prices in Ica are a fraction of airport duty-free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services.

Can you pick me up directly at my Huacachina hotel?

Yes, we pick up right at your accommodation in Huacachina. The oasis is small – whether you're at a backpacker hostel or a boutique hotel on the lagoon, we'll be at your door. No need to make your way to Ica first.

How does the drive compare to taking a bus from Ica?

Bus from Ica to Lima takes 4-5 hours plus a taxi to Ica terminal and another taxi from Lima terminal to the airport. Private transfer takes the same driving time but it's door-to-door with zero connections. For catching a flight, the reliability alone is worth it.

What if my dune buggy tour runs late?

Let us know and we'll adjust. If the delay is minor (30 minutes), your buffer time absorbs it. If it's significant, we'll recalculate and let you know honestly whether your flight timing still works. Flexibility is the whole point of private transfer.

Is the price for the whole vehicle?

Yes, per vehicle. A sedan is the same price for one person or three. Huacachina attracts groups of friends – splitting a van fare among 4-6 people is often cheaper per person than individual bus tickets plus taxis.

Can we stop for food on the way?

Definitely. Chincha (about 1.5 hours from Huacachina) has good roadside restaurants. Cañete area also has options. A 20-30 minute food stop is easy to fit in if your schedule allows. Just let the driver know.

What's the road like from Huacachina to the highway?

It's about 5 kilometers of local road from Huacachina to Ica city, then you're on the Panamericana highway. The local road is paved but can be busy with Ica city traffic. Once on the highway, it's smooth and fast.

Do I need cash for tolls or anything?

No, all highway tolls are included in your transfer price. You don't need to pay anything extra. The only cash you might want is for a food stop or to buy pisco at a bodega if you choose to stop.

What if Lima traffic is really bad when we arrive?

Lima traffic is worst during morning (7-9 AM) and evening (5-8 PM) rush hours. Our drivers know alternate routes through the city to reach the airport. That's why we build 2-3 hours of buffer into the recommended departure time.
